For a third time, Birmingham based entertainments company APlus Entertainment has been featured on the BBC's Watchdog program.
APlus Entertainment was first featured on Watchdog back in October 2006 amid reports that Daniel Edwards had failed to turn-up or provide entertainers for children's parties.
Interviewed on the program, Chris Neville of Birmingham Trading Standards says:
"He's amongst the worst we've seen at Trading Standards. We shouldn't be getting this number of complaints about a small business like his."
Equity Special Attention List
APlus Entertainment has also been highlighted in the Autumn 2007 edition of the Equity magazine on their 'Special Attention List'.
Equity members are advised that it is in their own interest to consult the Equity office before accepting engagements from named individuals or companies, as in most cases, the individual or company has owed or still owes members money.
Booking a Children's Entertainer
Whilst the vast majority of entertainers are reliable and act in a professional manner, here are just a few tips we recommend when booking an entertainer for your party.
- Use the UK-Entertainers booking enquiry forms.
For your safety and security, all correspondence generated through this site is retained. Although very rare, we have in the past been able to supply evidence of communication to back-up claims if things go wrong.
- Book an entertainer that belongs to Equity.
Equity is the professional trade body for actors and entertainers. They have a very strict code of conduct that its members must adhere to.
- Get the full contact details of the entertainer.
Many entertainers will supply a booking contract that will include their address and telephone details. If things do go wrong this will allow you (if necessary) to pursue a claim.
